Composed as a soundtrack for a movie that was never made, Beyond Recovery is over 2 hours and 45 minutes of ambient space music with light dialogue. The bonus tracks constitute another 2 hours and 25 minutes of space music.

Hubs, an outer system born independent operator, is on a long term one-man mission in the heliosheath in the leading part of the system. Having worked alone most of his life, he is used to the tedium of long voyages and busies himself by scanning communications throughout the system. His particular interest and talent is decoding encrypted messages. Sometimes this identifies interesting business leads. Other times it merely breaks the monotony.

He encounters a curiously erratic series of messages that seems to be originating from nearly the opposite edge of the Kuiper belt. As he listens he develops an unexplanable affinity with the unknown crew of this craft.
